FAQ About Survivor

What is the Survivor Sports Challenge?

It is a unique bowing format that allows bowlers of all skill levels to have a fair chance of winning on a challenging condition.  Good, fun competition is the goal of the league.  It is a multi-format 14 week event that utilizes three bowlers to a lane (Trio).

How will Survivor Fire Island work?

For the first 6 weeks, individuals will battle in head to head three game matches.  Points will be awarded for each game won and totals.  Each week bowlers are separated into tribes based on their averages, named for the suits in the deck of cards.

Within each tribe bowlers are ranked based on their individual winning percentages.

There is no team prize fund for the first seven weeks of the SSC; all winnings are based on individual performance within your tribe. Four Tribes, Four Prize funds.

On the seventh week, Survivor bowlers have a challenge, it is a match play tournament.  The tribes have match play to determine their suit champions, and these 4 champions compete for the title of Ultimate Survivor.

In preparation for the last 7 weeks, we have a draft.  The leading average bowlers (the spades) become team captains and draft bowlers with the lowest average spade drafting first until all bowlers have been drafted.

Weeks 8 through 13, the focus shifts to team play with Survivor bowlers in these drafted teams bowling for the rights to win their portion of the team prize fund, and the title of Survivor Team Champion.

On the 14th week, Survivor bowlers again have a challenge, this time match play with a twist.  Baker team competition!  This format is head to head competition among seeded teams with bowlers from each team alternating frames, until the Ultimate Team Survivors are crowned.

Can anyone bowl the Survivor Sports Challenge?

Absolutely! Here is a world where everyone has a chance to compete with bowlers of their same skill level on a challenging condition.  The first half all that matters is how you compare to the other bowlers of your average tribe.  Any bowler, any averages all are welcome!

The second half, draft teams compete.  Every bowler has a fair and equal chance at the prize fund offered in the second half since these teams are by their nature very balanced.

When is the Survivor Sports Challenge taking place?

The challenge begins Monday January 9th at 6:30pm.  Usually we are done bowling in around 2 hours. 6:30 start, 2 hours and you’re done, 14 weeks

What must I bring to the Survivor Sports Challenge?

Survivors must bring sixteen dollars to sacrifice at the altar of the bowling gods each week.  They are also required to behave respectfully; we don’t want to anger the natives.  Whining is not respected in this culture as witnessed by their slogan.

I Bowl Survivor, Do you have what it takes?

I noticed Sport in the title, does that mean sport conditions?

You bet! This is not your cozy comfortable softer home condition.  This is roughing it baby, what else would you expect from Survivor?  Tough stuff but great rewards and some great competition to boot!

Did someone say rewards?

Individual prize funds, Team prize Funds, Tournament bonuses, Big cash bonuses for 300 ($1,000) and 800 ($2,000)

Thirty Six bowlers, 14 weeks stranded on a sport condition, match play, team play, two tournaments, one surviving team, One Ultimate Survivor!
